OUR PROMISE
Safeguarding is everyone's job — our team, our partners, and our community.
Every story, coaching session, and online activity at Flaem is designed with safety first.
Got a concern right now? Email us: hello@flaem.co.uk
1. What We're Committed To
We built Flaem on one simple promise:
"Every young person deserves a safe, supportive space to learn and grow."
Here's how we keep that promise:
-
We protect young people from harm, abuse, and neglect
-
We promote well-being, equality, and inclusion in everything we do
-
We train all staff and coaches in safeguarding
-
We follow UK law — including Keeping Children Safe in Education (2025) and Working Together to Safeguard Children (2023)
FOR YOUNG ADVENTURERS
Flaem is your safe place to learn and create.
If anyone ever makes you feel uncomfortable, confused, or upset — tell a grown-up you trust or message us.
You will never get in trouble for speaking up.

4. Spotting the Signs of Harm
Harm can happen in different ways. The four main types are:
-
Physical abuse — hurting someone's body
-
Emotional abuse — hurting someone's feelings repeatedly
-
Sexual abuse — any sexual contact or behaviour involving a child
-
Neglect — failing to meet a child's basic need
Our staff are trained to spot early warning signs — including online grooming, bullying, and exploitation.
If we think a young person is at risk, we follow strict steps. We report to the right authorities — including local safeguarding boards, CEOP, or the police.
FOR YOUNG ADVENTURERS — WATCH OUT ONLINE
Watch out if someone online:
-
Asks for your photo
-
Asks you to keep secrets
-
Asks you for money
-
If any of this happens — stop straight away. Tell a grown-up or email us immediately.
5. How We Keep You Safe Online
Our online safety rules include:
-
All content is checked before it goes live — no public posting without approval
-
Age-appropriate design and privacy settings throughout the platform
-
Parental oversight required for children under 13
-
Secure hosting and UK GDPR-compliant data protection
-
No direct messaging between young people and staff outside approved, monitored channel
We review our safety settings regularly to make sure they're working.
6. How We Check Everyone Who Works With Young People
All Flaem coaches, mentors, and partners who work with young people must:
-
Pass an enhanced DBS check (where required)
-
Complete safeguarding and child protection training
-
Sign the Flaem Code of Conduct
-
Use only approved platforms — no private contact or social media messages with minors
Any concern is reported immediately to our Designated Safeguarding Lead.
